Members are listed in order upon joining "a Change of Heart."
Creator, Father, Savior, Brother, Comforter, Spirit, Jesus, Yahweh, King of the Universe, and Lord of All – Founder
Our great God keeps this ministry grounded, bringing us to our knees at times, but lifting us to the heights at other times. He puts us together, keeps us together, and then takes away, all according to His all-knowing wisdom and purpose. Thank you, Lord of All, for Who You are, what You do in our lives, for what You've done already, for saving us from ourselves and utter destruction, and for loving us SO MUCH that You gave Your only begotten Son to die in our place. We praise and worship You, and You alone!
Cheryl Deutsch – Organizer, Lead & Harmony Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, very little Keyboards: Before realizing that there was such a thing as “contemporary Christian music,” Cheryl had been lead vocalist in several secular rock-and-roll cover bands, starting as a teenager in high school. Since that realization in the mid-90's, however, her only desire has been to glorify our great God, and He appointed her to her prior church's (Maranatha Family Christian Fellowship, Nazareth, PA www.maranathafcf.org) Sunday morning praise and worship team for approximately 8 years, its evangelical ministries, a separate traveling evangelical rock band ministry, “Spirit of Praise,” for approximately 4 years, and as contemporary music worship leader for First United Methodist Church of Wind Gap for 14 months. She now serves Benders Mennonite Church in leading worship when needed and helps with music in worship wherever she is called.
In September 2007 Cheryl began to form another traveling evangelical music ministry called “a Change of Heart.” At different times, this ministry has involved presentations with song, dance, scripture, skits, the spoken Word, poetry, and meditations. Currently, Cheryl serves part time as a "peer counselor," and facilitator for the anger management course for Care Net of Carbon County (www.carenetcarbon.org) in Lehighton, PA.
Cassandra Joy Strohl -- Vocals: Cassandra is blessed with a beautiful voice and has accompanied her mother, Cheryl, in most of the above-mentioned worship teams for many years when she has not been too busy working full time as an early childhood educator, pursuing her degree in that area, and planning for her August 28, 2011 marriage to David Garland! She has served many years in several churches as a Sunday School Teacher and/or Assistant.
Carla Jo Hubert (a.k.a. Miss Rachel) – Keyboards, Harmony, Background & Lead Vocals, Tambourine: Carla's creative talents and gifts are plentiful. Our Father has blessed her with natural abilities to harmonize to almost anything and good rhythm for the tambourine, writing songs, poems, plays, and stories containing spiritual lessons that people can relate to and apply to their daily walk with our triune God. Over the past 25 years or so, she has sung in choirs in her churches, been in an ensemble of characters with a traveling musical play performing and bringing the gospel message to many hundreds of people, served in Sunday School, and has written and acted in plays, skits, poems, and songs for God's glory that have been used in several ministries, such as youth and music ministries. Carla also has a great gift for relating to and teaching young children. Oh, yes, Carla also portrays an elderly woman named "Miss Rachel" and is very good at other impressions, also.
Currently Carla works as the Director of the "New Hope Drop-in Center" and attends services and is a member of the choir at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, both in Lehighton, PA.
Gerard Deutsch – Sound: Gerard has learned as we've gone along, so to speak, and is still learning and striving to make us sound better in any way he can, all for the sole purpose of glorifying our Creator. He's "come a long way, baby," and is very much appreciated!
Steve Bell – Drums, Congas, Percussion: Steve started playing in various bands over 30 years ago as a product of the 60's. He battled various addictions until he repented to God and accepted Him as Lord and Savior in 1997. After many days of prayer, the Lord put it on His heart that he could resume playing music with one stipulation: that everything, including music, would be done for Him alone. Steve currently attends and serves on a worship team at Maranatha Family Christian Fellowship in Nazareth, PA (www.maranathafcf.org). He enthusiastically and whole-heartedly heads up "Samaritan's Purse" there every year.
Jim Neyhart – Electric Guitar, Harmony & Background Vocals: Jim lead worship and served as an elder at Bender's Mennonite Church ([email protected]), 975 Bender's Church Road, Pen Argyl, PA for approximately 10 years, until recently stepping down. He lends his talents by leading the worship team now and then. Jim and his wife, Karen, had also been leading or helping to lead services at a sister Mennonite church in Bethlehem for several months in 2010.
Jim Wheelock -- Electric Bass Guitar, Background Vocals: Jim joined us February 2011 after moving back to PA from California. He's already a part of the team in every way and is a VERY quick learner. He doesn't know it, but he doesn't need much practice...but YEA!! for us...he loves to practice! Jim and his family also attend Maranatha Family Christian Fellowship in Nazareth.
